Habitat
Support and Strengthen Established Herder’s Communities
During implementation of the first RSG project it was clearly evident that the water supply for both domestic and wild life is the most essential and priority issue for the area. The problem requires urgent solution and we plan to repair and equip at least one hand operating well for livestock, restore and rehabilitate open spring water for wildlife in the community managed area.
Business Planning for a New Protected Area: The Río Grande-Che Guevara Biosphere Reserve, Bolivia
This initiative will create a new model for conservation in Latin America: decentralized park management that puts local governments in charge, and allows them to use incentives, market-based management tools, and business planning models to improve local livelihoods, protect the biological asset base, and maximize revenues.
Conservation and Ecology of Buff-Throated Partridge, in Yajiang County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan, P.R. China
Our aim is to provide the basic information on the status of key species and their habitat and the pressures that they face.
Conservation Action of the Bat Species at Soatá
This project aims to promote bat conservation in Soatá by to determine species diversity and population structure, assessing the principal threats to the bat population, drawing up conservation recommendations.
Conservation Status of Highland Lizards from Sabana de Bogotá
In this project I will determine the population status and its relationship with the environmental characteristics of three highland Colombian endemic lizards Anolis heterodermus, Stenocercus trachycephalus and Anadia bogotensis.
I will make workshops and educational materials for local people about of lizards populations status and the main habitat needs of each species in order to built knowledge and awareness on conservation of the lizards and their habitat.
Evaluation of Suitable Sites for European Bison in Oriental Carpathians’ Protected Areas
The main contribution of this project will be the identification of the suitable habitats for bison reintroduction within the VNNP’area (at local level) and the identification of two proper protected areas for establishing new bison reserves in Oriental Carpathians (at regional level).
Orang-utans and Gibbons Compared: Implications of Differences in Feeding and Behavioural Ecology for Conservation
This project aims to understand the behaviour and ecology of the two Asian apes in a degraded peat-swamp forest and to use that information for the protection of the forest ecosystem through collaboration with Indonesian researchers and organisations.
Approaches to Correlating Vectors and Diseases in Rainforest Cameroon Using Molecular Genetics and Remote Sensing
This project aims to determine vector diversity and use PCR-based detection methods to estimate avian haemosporidian parasites within these vectors. Additionally, we examine the bio-climatic and remote sensing variables that best correlate with vector abundance and disease prevalence.
Hornbill Hotspots: Identifying Distribution Patterns and Conservation Needs of Five Hornbill Species in Arunachal Pradesh, Eastern Himalaya
This project aims to understand the patterns of distribution of five hornbill species and relative influences of hunting and habitat degradation on hornbills in the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Distribution and Conservation Status of the Endangered Mt Uarges Guereza and the de Brazza’s and Sykes’ Monkey in Mathews Range, Leroghi and Ndoto Forests of Samburu
This project aims to protect this globally important area and its primates, not only by active field work studies and monitoring but also through introducing community based conservation initiatives, strengthening forest reserve management in the areas, and building the capacity of relevant stakeholders to manage the local ecosystems.
