Final Report

Read more about the activities undertaken and findings of this project in the report for RSG continuation (Second Year), titled “Population monitoring and conservation of Malayan Tapir in Taratak Forest Reserve, Sumatra, Indonesia”. This project previously was supported by RSG in 2004, and also supported for the second year monitoring program (2007).

In the second year program, we conducting monitoring program by using camera traps and also public awareness which conducting by moving library activities, coloring competition, Tapir baby naming contest, and promoting our activities to young conservation club. Due to get more attention on Tapir conservation in Indonesia, we are also send paper for published in national scientific journal and magazine. We also make a presentation in several times in campus, seminar, and local national conservation bureau office.

As also mentioned in the report, for the future we want to expanding our monitoring program into larger coverage areas in West Sumatra landscapes and also elaborating more the biology of Malayan tapir.
