Identifying Drivers of Primate Occupancy Patterns in a Fragmented Forest Landscape of Garo Hills, India, for Efficient Conservation Planning

The aim of the project is to determine the influence of factors of conservation relevance, such as fragment size, shape, isolation and surrounding matrix on primate occupancy in community-owned forest fragments.

Population Survey and Conservation of Two Little-Known Primates, Macaca Munzala and Nycticebus

Arunachal Pradesh in northeastern India is listed among the 200 globally important ecoregions, yet much of its wildlife remains relatively unexplored. The objectives of our study are to conduct population surveys for two virtually unknown primate species that are found there – the nocturnal Bengal slow loris Nycticebus bengalensis and the newly discovered Arunachal macaque Macaca munzala - in order to estimate their abundances and evaluate conservation threats affecting their survival in Arunachal Pradesh.
