Investigations into Conservation Threats to the Intertidal Ecosystems of The Galápagos Islands, Ecuador

This project will document temporal changes in the marine algal ecosystems of The Galápagos Marine Reserve, more specifically looking at changes in abundance and loss of certain species.

Conservation of Figs and Frugivores in Assam, India

The project will investigate the role of Ficus trees in agroecosystems as a food source for frugivores and identify threats to figs and frugivores in Assam. It will explore local perceptions and social practices relating to figs in different agroecosystems and assess the feasibility of a community-based Fig conservation programme in the region.

Conservation Assessment and Management of Globally Threatened Plant Species in Huu Lien Nature Reserve, Vietnam

The long-term aim, is to build and develop a conservation strategy for the many rare and endangered species in Huu Lien Nature Reserve and hence rescue them from extinction. There is an urgent need to perfect an applicable model of community-based conservation for endangered plants in Vietnam.

Community Demand Driven Cultivation of Critically Endangered and Endemic Devils Claw (CITES II, IUCN 2008) and Conservation of its Threatened Ecosystem in Nkuwazi Forest, Northern Region, Malawi

The aim of this project is to rescue the critically endangered Devils Claw Plant from becoming extinct through conservation of the remaining plants in their natural habitats and cultivation for genetic preservation and livelihoods.

Nutty Livelihoods – Efforts to Save Rural Incomes and a Crucial Extractive Industry in the Amazon

The current project proposes to further investigate the reasons for the declines seen in fruit production, experimentally test enrichment planting as a viable management option and construct a Brazil nut nursery. We also aim to perform an extensive socio-economic analysis of the harvest and trade in the study region.

Enhancing Conservation of Rare and Endangered Plant Species by Conduction of Field Researches and Increasing the Level of Public Awareness in Eastern Khatlon, Tajikistan

This project will study the current state of rare and endangered plant species in the areas of natural vegetation, identify the influence of anthropogenic factors on the species and conduct awareness campaigns among target rural population and students.

This pilot survey will collect disappearing indigenous knowledge of medicinal plant use, their status, population dynamics, and conservation implications in one of the most diverse forest patch and national park of Bangladesh.
