Community Agroforestry as an engine for Reforestation and Sustainable Poverty Reduction: A Case of Smallholder farmers in Rwebigoma Village, Kibaale District
This one year pilot project intends to provide a paradigm shift from the traditional thinking that small holder farmers cannot plant trees on their farms. It will demonstrate the utility of rural micro projects as far as environmental conservation and income improvement is concerned.
Building a local community conservation group and establishing ecotourism activities around the Ondiri Swamp, Kenya’s only quacking bog
The overall aim of my project is to develop a proactive community conservation group for Ondiri Swamp, Kenya’s only quacking bog. This freshwater wetland is a catchment area and source of the Nairobi River which traverses the city of Nairobi. The project will rehabilitate the swamp as a bird conservation habitat as well as encouraging ecotourism activities.
Environment Education and Conservation Programme (EECP)
The project has been designed to deliver environmental education to primary school children and teachers, train and expose them to forest and community conservation activities.
