Conservation of the Saker Falcon in the Ukrainian Steppes: Survey, Risk Assessment and Implementing Conservation Measures

The project surveys the populations of the endangered Saker Falcon (Falco cherrug), its habitats and negative factors affecting them, as well as implementing conservation measures in South Ukraine.

Investigation of an Endemic, Threatened Ant Species – Myrmoxenus Tamarae and Education of Local People for Ant Conservation in Borjomi dDstrict (Samtskhe-Javakheti Region, Georgia)

Our project aim is to investigate the endemic ant species Myrmoxenus tamarae in Borjomi district (Samtskhe-Javakheti region), to educate local people and school pupils about the importance of this threatened ant as an indicator in the forest ecosystem.

Conservation of Migratory Raptors in a Geographical Convergence Zone at the Eastern Black Sea in South West Georgia

Batumi Raptor Count aims to construct community-based conservation of migratory raptors under threat of illegal hunting in Batumi, Georgia, by (1) hosting an international volunteer-based monitoring program and (2) research collaborators in local home-stays, (3) educating regional students and (4) developing sustainable socioeconomic models for exploitation of raptors such as ecotourism development.

Protection of Populations of the White-Tailed Eagle, Imperial Eagle and Greater Spotted Eagle

The aim of the project: Protection of populations of the White-Tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla), Imperial Eagle (Aquila heliaca), Greater Spotted Eagle (Aquila clanga) by reducing the rate of bird deaths through electrocution on overhead power lines near their nesting grounds and establishing the protected forest areas, where nests of these species are located on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan. The project will also be greatly conductive to the presentation of the other species of birds dying because of the power lines.

Conservation of Corncrakes During Autumn Migration in Southern Ukraine. The Plain Crimea

The aim of the project is to inventory key stopover sites and identify key threats for migrating Corncrakes in the plain part of Crimean peninsula during autumn migration. To develop urgent measures for protection of migrating Corncrakes.

The Ecological Assessment and Conservation Planning of the Alazani River Basin Riparian Forests Vegetation - Georgia (South Caucasus)

The aim of the project is an ongoing ecological assessment and conservation planning of Alazani riparian forests vegetation. We will also create conservation plan for target forests including reports for some threatened plant species from target area. The project will involve science students from a local University.

The International Year of Forests in the Northeastern Ukraine: Establishing of Long-Term Program on Forest Biodiversity Conservation

We aim to create the network of small protected patches of old forests outside of nature reserves and to limit forest harvesting in Eastern Ukraine. Beside this we are going to inform publicity about the state of local forests.
