This project aims to lay the foundations for the development of a conservation model for the ocelot (Leopardus pardalis) in the Pontal do Paranapanema region, São Paulo State, Brazil. This region includes most remnants of significant size of the severely threatened Interior Atlantic Rainforest.

Specific objectives include population surveys of ocelots in key forest fragments; description of movement and dispersal patterns through the fragmented landscape and correlation of population dynamics patterns with the presence of larger predator species and prey availability. Results from this project will provide support and orientation for the design/management of nature reserves and to local community initiatives in restoring key wildlife corridors.
